Dear Tommy &
Linda,
What a week in
Nicaragua! Thanks for all you did to make it possible
for us, especially telling someone you've never heard of
to "come on down". It is so refreshing how reliant on
God you are and how open to His working in whatever way
or through whomever He decides. Your mission work is
incredible and that's the secret. I've been to a number
of neat works but so often they are boxed in and limited
by focus on an agenda of projects. I'm sure there are
many others, but this is the first one I've experienced
that is so focused on relationships with the people. Of
course there are projects, dreams, agenda, but it is all
open to God's working however He wants.
So I was impacted
by all I experienced. It was exciting to see the team
God has brought together--both the directly involved
translators as well as more peripheral like Yahaira,
your housekeeper or the main ones in the businesses
(and, of course, Jim Bob. How neat to see
nationals not only willing to translate but that have
grasped your vision to spread the gospel among their
people and want to help with that. God has truly worked
incredible in this ministry. His blessing is all over
it and it will be thrilling to see what the future
holds.
It's taken some
time to figure out why I was so touched by my time
there. After much thought and prayer, I believe it was
because I felt so connected to so many people in just
one week. I so appreciate your enthusiasm, energy,
laughter, and vision that are all so important in what
you are doing. Our times together at meals or in the
truck were so fun and inspiring--all the stories of what
God has done and is doing--I LOVE IT! But I was also
able to get to know Diego, Scarleth, Enrique, Oscar,
Yahaira, Daniel, the sewing lady and of course, my
little Rosa--among others. What a precious bunch of
people. It was so special to have time to get to know
people without a big fast-paced agenda. (I love to work
hard so that would have been fine too but God had this
for me). It reminded me of what really matters--all our
busyness in life is worthless if it isn't impacting
people for our Lord.
I feel like I'm
still having trouble putting it all into words. But I
was truly touched and inspired and am so excited for all
God is doing through you all as you remain willing and
available to whatever He wants to do.
Keep up the good
work...My prayers go
with you...I do hope to
return with at least Susie, maybe some kids. They'd
love it!
Thank you again,
Paul Rexroth |

Trip Thoughts |

Here are my
thoughts post trip |
As I reflect back
over my days in Nicaragua my eyes fill with tears. I
hadn't expected to be heart broken when I left. I cried
much of the flight home. I am totally taken with the
people and their sweet spirits. I truly thought that my
time there would be spent "doing" and "serving" and that
people would be blessed by me... HA was I ever
wrong!!!!! The vast majority of my time was spent
holding children, playing with them and trying to speak
their language. I was blessed beyond measure by their
precious smiles.. I love their smiles - no translator
needed for those.
The people's needs in Santa Matilda are endless, yet
they possess more joy than I ever have. I thank God for
the experience He allowed me to have in the village.
Getting outside my physical comfort zone and
experiencing how others live brought a new level of
gratefulness to my heart. I left Nicaragua a better
person than I arrived.
I am returning and bringing my husband and children. We
simply must all experience this together. Thank you to
Tommy and Linda for your vision for this ministry.
Thanks to Jim Bob aka "Diego" for being the passionate
young man you are for God's kingdom....
In Christ alone,
Lori Yearick |
|
I was humbled and
still stand amazed how much this trip has blessed me |
The trip immediately
pointed out to me how blessed I am as well as my
personal and church family. The one thing I saw that was
so impactful to me was "Little David" that had the bad
burns. I have never met or seen a young man so brave as
him. I am so thankful that he seems to be doing well,
due to God's healing hands. We came home recognizing the
need is great in Santa Matilde and have promoted this to
others. We have made this community a priority in our
prayer life and have made efforts to raise money to help
with hunger, nourishment, shelter and medical supplies.
That only starts the effort for this community, but as
long as I can be a part of helping, this community will
never be forgotten, both from prayers, fund raising and
financial support.
I have no doubt that I could write for hours on how this
has impacted me, but will express my love for those of
you I have met through my actions and prayer life.

Can't Get
Enough...4th Trip |
|
My first trip was in October of 2002 and I
fell in love with the people, their culture,
and the mission God put on my parents
hearts. I absolutely love going back each
year and should quit playing in the dirt
with the children but I can't help it!!!
They are so cute! If you get a chance,
please go...I promise it will change the way
you view life!

Nicaragua grounds me in truth. |
|
Nicaragua grounds me in truth. It reminds me
that relationship is the central block that the
remainder of faith is built off. Relationship with God
and His love is all that I need, all of the other areas
of faith spring from this. Faith in America has so many
distractions it's easy for me to forget that it all
really boils down to something simple, love or
relationship, and when ever I go to Nicaragua I'm
reminded of that simply by the depth of love these
people have for God and for others.
Kellie |
|
It
is a blessing that can only be felt by those
who go and experience life there in Nicaragua. |
I have come back with
a different appreciation for life here in the States and
I have come back with a new found love for God. I
thought at one time He was lost, but who would have
known that all of the love I felt in a foreign country
would bring Him back. I know that He was never gone, but
I guess I just kept Him at arm's length.
Thank you Tommy, Linda and the Team for showing such
great hospitality! You all are doing something so
amazing. I can't wait to come back soon and be a part of
it again!
Take care and God bless you all.............Donna |

Pinnacle of Waynesville |
|
Visit
Dates: April 1-7 From: Waynesville, NC
Trip Goals: Pastor pastors, Help with Youth &
Sunday School leaders |
|
Jennifer
Sellers lives near Asheville, NC and was
a member of New Song Church where Tommy
Gable was pastor before he and Linda
relocated in Nicaragua. She began
visiting in Nicaragua with the first team
from New Song 6 years ago and has been on 8
trips over the years since then. She
remembers going with Tommy, Linda and Pastor
Jose to the end of the street where the
first services were held with a handful of
village people in Candelaria. And the
night they showed the Jesus movie on a sheet
hung from the back of a truck! She saw
the first shelter raised and worshipped and
worked under the "flying canvas" that once
covered the original church. Her
husband and children have been heavily
involved in the mission as well, and their
hearts are connected to the family of God in
Nicaragua! She has functioned as a nurse, a
craft teacher, a prayer leader, a Sunday
School trainer, and a "buen coco" (good
head) for Linda, who is her close friend.
She tries to give her support and
encouragement for her daily work, and also
for the whole team. She is a board
member, and from the US handles
communications and mailing lists, donation
acknowledgments and email traffic. She
also helps with the web site and brochure
text and other paperwork, organizing mission
teams...Her job description is pretty varied
to say the least! |

Trip Thoughts |
|
The
recent trip I just returned from was
exciting and wonderful |
I took
two of our pastors and a friend from our new
church (Pinnacle) and they were so impacted
by the poverty and the love expressed and
received in the villages. I loved sharing my
passion with them and watching them fall in
love with the Nicaraguan church family,
watching their hearts be touched. We had a
lot of fun, too! The mission team in
Nicaragua is so welcoming and efficient and
real. It is always an intense experience to
serve the people and it binds our hearts
together.
A very impacting time was the discovery of a
very sick, malnourished and undeveloped
baby. We were able to get the child medical
treatment and a long term place to receive
help and therapy. I believe a life was
saved. Giving her a cup of pure water to
drink was the essence of Jesus call to us to
offer a cup of water in His name. In that
village we viewed the church family served
by Pastor Pablo, a sweet young man who had
both legs blown off by a land mine during
the Sandinista wars. He rides his bicycle
for miles to serve his church. We also went
to a very poor section of the main village
in response to the request of an 18 year old
young mother who has been gathering her
neighborhood children together to teach them
about Jesus. She has no materials. Her area
of the village has been forgotten because it
is isolated and more poverty stricken.
(which is hard to imagine!) After having
songs and a story our little group led 37
children to Jesus. Watching the children
flock forward for prayer and seeing them hug
our translator made tears run down my
cheeks. Especially the sight of wee little
ones with hands raised and eyes closed,
unchurched children who responded with a
natural worship, untaught. Jesus words to
"Bring the children to me, for of such is
the kingdom of Heaven" happened in front of
our eyes! Many adults and teens were
listening in as well, because our visit was
so unusual and welcome to these forgotten
families. We plan to visit this area
regularly and continue to minister to
spiritual and material needs.
This is
what it is like to visit Nicaragua. It is a
New Testament experience of walking in the
footsteps of Jesus and Paul. It is noise,
laughter, heat, dirt, tears, worship,
miracles, pain, suffering and joy. I
love it!
