PRAYER REQUESTS

I will update this page with prayer requests I hear about from friends and family back home as well as needs and thanks we have here.

Some of the prayer requests will stay on this page for an extended time because I feel they need to be prayed about all the time.  Others may change weekly or even daily as I feel led, and as God answers them.

This week prayer:

NewSong Mission Nicaragua's general fund is extremely short for the month of March and we have confirmed with Atlanta City Church that nothing else has come in since our one pull March 7th. I have spotted them some of my funds and may just make the spot a donation if they cannot get more help. If you can help in anyway financially please do, or at least pray for their monthly needs to be met for pastor salaries, interpreters, gas, small business, etc etc. I need support of my own, but for the next couple weeks please try and help NewSong general fund.

Lonnie Galloway...my college football coach just found out that his mother was diagnosed with liver cancer.  Please pray for her health and also keep Coach Galloway and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they try to handle this tough news

Jennifer Jones...One of my Mom's co-workers at First Presbyterian Church of Boone, NC and a great friend to me lost her mother this past Friday.  Her funeral service will be Tuesday in West Jefferson.  She had been sick for several months and Jennifer was with her when her heart stopped...Please remember her family and friends during this hard time.  Love you Jennifer!

Erin Isaacs...a young girl from my hometown ho was diagnosed about 19months ago with a rare bone cancer. She has traveled several times to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and they are working with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to oversee her treatments. The last few trips and treatments have taken a toll of Erin's energy and her spirit.  We are going to have a healing service (similar to what we did for Peggy) for Erin on March 9th at 6:45 at Valle Crucis United Methodist Church. She may or may not be able to be there, but we know God will be there.  My request is for all who are willing to stop at 7pm on March 9th and lift up Erin Isaacs name in prayer for freedom from pain and for complete healing. We are asking other churches in our community to have their membership to lift up Erin's name at the same time on March 9th.  Erin graduated from Watauga High school in 2006 and had been attending Caldwell Community College until this semester when she had to drop out. Her brother David is one of the star basketball players on the WHS basketball team. Her mother is trying to continue to work and her father, who is a carpenter, has taken time off to be with Erin. Please remember all the family, but especially Erin on March 9th at 7pm.

Oscar...he is one of our interpreters and a great man of God.  He works very hard no matter the task: practicing his English or just doing favors for the Leon team or people in the villages.  He has a daughter and son and is currently facing some issues with his wife Jennifer.  I lift him, his wife, children, and marriage up in prayer in hope that everything will workout.  Please do your part in praying for him as well.

Amy Martin...my cousin who is trying to decide what to do next.  She has been doing a lot of moving around since her marriage.  I hope that she can find a permanent and safe place for her and her 1 year old, Parker.  I lift her, Parker, and her husband up in prayer in hope for a more permanent decision that is good for all parties.  I hope her newest plan for school works out, and hope you will pray for her.

Murray Norman...my dad's dad in Lincolnton, GA is having knee trouble.  He is having it looked at by a doctor and will act accordingly.  I lift him and my grandmother up in prayer as they work together to get him healthy.  Please keep them in your thoughts and I will update you when I hear more.

Mike & Maria Saeli...my neighbors in Leon.  I live in a house with multiple rooms...the Saeli's are who I have my wireless router plugged into, and they have been such a blessing; helping me know how things work around here this first week...they work for "Food for the Hungry" and are from upstate New York.  I pray thanking them for all the help they have been to me and also their safety as they are traveling back to the states from Feb 21-March 9...Please pray for their time there with children and grandchildren and a safe return here in March.

Newell Family...of Boone, NC.  A good friend of mine, Drew, 22 was killed by a drunk driver the Friday after Thanksgiving and his father was seriously injured.  I pray for Brian's recovery and the entire family and friends as this tragedy still pulls on us everyday.  Drew's baseball jersey will be retired this coming Tuesday at Watauga High School's first game of the 2008 season.  If you can make it to the game and support the event please do so.  The family is also still needing financial help with the medical and other bills.  Please continue to pray for them with me.

All the time prayer:

Our Team...All of us here in Nicaragua trying to make a difference.  I lift all of us up and hope that we always keep our hearts, ears, and eyes open and do our best to listen to God's plan and not get sidetracked with what we think is important or needed immediately, but know that we are just a piece of the puzzle and a part of the big plan.  Sometimes we try and treat our mission as a sprint when it has be a marathon.  Please pray for our safety and our wisdom.

Friday night youth group...Young adults ages 15-25 at Candelaria from 7-9 at night every Friday.  I pray for the people to have open ears and hearts as I show my love for them through both fun and games and our worship and message.  I pray for myself that God puts the right actions and words in me for all meetings to come.  I pray for Scarleth as she interprets for me in hope that the message is clear and meaningful for the youth.  Please pray for me every week that our youth nights are a success so that our numbers will grow each week and hearts are changed when they see our love for them.

Billy Riddle and Why the Woods...a former football teammate at ASU that is now serving in Sudan, Africa as a missionary.  I pray for his safety and his work there as he does all he can to teach the children there of God's love.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and visit his website at: billyriddlejr.blogspot.com
